Client Brief
Our client approached us with an exciting new build project that includes the design and construction of their kitchen, TV unit, and laundry space. They had specific must-haves and non-negotiable requests for each area. In the kitchen, they desired a show-stopping island benchtop, the incorporation of the Calcutta (stripe) profile as a standout feature, and the use of woodmatt finish to make a design statement. The TV unit needs to perfectly match the woodmatt finish of the kitchen. Finally, the laundry had to include dedicated hanging space for clothing and sections designed to accommodate laundry baskets with precision.
Our Response
In the kitchen, we artfully incorporated woodmatt finish throughout, utilising Prime Oak Woodmatt doors for the overheads to create a harmonious connection with the flooring. To highlight the Calcutta (stripe) profile, we strategically placed it on the backbar of the island, adding contrast and breaking up the predominantly white cabinetry. Crafting the wow factor island benchtop proved to be an exhilarating challenge, with its unique triangular design setting it apart as a pioneering feature. We also used woodmatt finish on the floating shelves in the TV unit. This creates a strong contrast against the plain white background, giving it a simple yet bold look. In the laundry, we meticulously designed space for four laundry baskets, ensuring they fit perfectly and don’t waste valuable cupboard space. The addition of a hanging rail beneath an overhead unit allowed for wrinkle-free clothes drying or ironing.
